Financial Independence Calculator
FIN — Financial Independence Number
Calculate the savings goal and monthly amount you may need to work toward financial independence.
Why does KFWEG use 3%?
KFWEG uses 3% as an educational long-term planning assumption. Inflation changes over time, so 3% is not a prediction or guarantee. The calculator also shows a current U.S. inflation reference and lets you change the assumption to explore other scenarios.
Current U.S. reference: 3.4%, based on the latest published U.S. CPI reading available when this calculator was updated (August 2026). The rate can be changed at any time.
